An AirBnB-style application developed through four iterations. It progresses from a Python command-line interface and static listing pages to Flask-rendered views, a REST API, and a JavaScript interface intended to retrieve listings from the API. The data layer supports JSON-file storage and SQLAlchemy/MySQL storage.
My contributions
- Built and iterated on static HTML/CSS frontend pages, including listing cards, filters, and layout styling.
- Added Flask routes and templates as the project progressed toward server-rendered pages.
- Added REST API functionality for place search and place–amenity relationships.
- Extended the model and storage layer with SQLAlchemy/MySQL support alongside JSON persistence.
- Worked on the later JavaScript frontend that requests listing data and renders place cards.
Technologies
Python, Flask, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, jQuery, SQLAlchemy, MySQL, JSON storage.
Outcome
The first version’s model and storage test suite passed 21 tests. The v3 model test suite passed 95 tests, with 7 skipped; it did not test the API routes. The later frontend demonstrates intended API integration, though some filters and review-related functionality are incomplete, and I did not verify it in a live browser session
